I apologize for the delay, but here is the event report for "Shiwasu Bounenkai '24," held on Friday, December 20, 2024. The reason for the delay is that, due to a malfunction in the event recorder, we were unable to report on the content of the talk session. We apologize to those who were looking forward to it. This time, please accept this report with plenty of photos!

(Let's get back on track...) This time, we divided the event into two main parts: a "workshop" and a "networking session," so I'd like to share what happened during those parts with you.

Part 1: Practical Workshops!

This was our first attempt.

We received requests for a place to learn practical skills in addition to a place for interaction, so this time we held a trial 3-hour small-group workshop! The theme is "3D".We held a Blender study session for designers and a WebGL utilization workshop for engineers.

3D rendering is becoming increasingly common on the web. At first glance, 3DCG may seem difficult and have a high barrier to entry, but in this workshop, we carefully explained everything from the basic usage of Blender to the entire process of 3DCG production, making it easy for beginners to get started, and each participant then worked on their own creation.
The flow of the lecture on the day:
• First half: Explanation of the basic usage of Blender and the entire process of 3DCG production.
Second half: Turn the iDID logo into 3DCG! Let's create artwork images using the logo.

Voices from participants

I was so happy that I was able to create a 3D model from SVG thanks to the thorough and careful instruction on the basics!

I wanted to start using Blender, but I didn't know where to begin, so I'm glad I was able to actually try it out in this course and get a feel for the production process!

I was worried about whether I could keep up since I'm such a beginner, but they taught me everything carefully from the beginning, so I was able to understand it all. At the end, we had time to freely create something based on the iDID logo, and it was really fun to review what we had learned while creating!

For Engineers | Take your expression to the next level by writing original shaders! Three.js Practical Workshop

Instructor: Doxas | Masahiro Sugimoto
WebGL Development Support Site wgld.org,normalize.fm (Podcast) management, writing and managing articles for WebGL's main website, and organizing schools and study groups.

We held a lecture with the aim of taking the first step towards more advanced expression using original shaders, while still making use of the benefits that Three.js provides.
The flow of the lecture on the day:
• First half: We'll review the rules of Three.js and explain the basics of handling custom shaders.
Second half: We will deepen our understanding of several expressions by actually writing shaders.

Voices from participants

I was able to grasp the general flow of creation in a short amount of time! It was great that you explained not only how to render images but also how to deploy them to the web!

Doxas's explanation was incredibly thorough and easy to understand, and I really grasped it. The difficulty level was just right, and if possible, I would have liked to have more time to actually work on the problem, even if it meant extending the time limit.

As expected, Mr. Sugimoto's lecture was thorough and easy to understand. In terms of content, it was a good review of Three.js and GLSL, and it made me appreciate the fun and possibilities of shaders even more, making me want to expand my range of expression.

Part 2: Creator Networking Event "Come On! Young Creators"

Then, in the evening, it's the familiar "Creator Networking Event." The talk theme is"Come on over, young creators!"So, we gathered together "young creators" from various production companies to hear their stories.

◆Talk Session 1:MASKMAN Inc.

MASKMAN-san, who helped liven up the venue right from the start.
These three will be speaking!

I learned about the behind-the-scenes process of creating websites I've seen in 2024. I heard about the "persistence and intensity" required in making proposals to clients. I was also surprised by the short production period of just two to three months.

◆Talk Session 2:FunTech Inc.

The two of them exuded energy. They were like a game of Othello!
These two are from FunTech!

FunTech, a company with an average age in their 20s, spoke to us about the discrepancies in the schedule for creating their corporate website and the painstaking process of continuing to build it.

◆Talk Session 3:spicato inc.

Thank you to everyone from spicato who came all the way from Kansai!
These were the people who created that website that became a hot topic.

This session was filled with questions from the audience, such as whether the materials for the introductory website were created or photographed. It was a session that showed just how much attention the topic was receiving.

◆Talk Session 4:NECCO Inc.

Everyone was dressed in black.
Ms. Nagano came all the way from Hokkaido!

The closing remarks for the talk were given by necco. Their website, Awarefy, was created by in-house members, including 3DCG, characters, videos, and music. The talk delved deep into necco's corporate culture.
